NRC in Iraq

Since the Government of Iraq declared that combat operations against the Islamic State group (IS) had ended in 2017, Iraq has been recovering from the significant damage and destruction caused by the armed conflict. Of the more than six million Iraqis who fled their homes since 2014, 4.5 million Iraqis have returned to their area of origin and 1.4 million remain internally displaced. Many Iraqis have returned to areas that lack basic infrastructure, services, and livelihood opportunities, or where explosive devices have not been cleared. Other challenges returnees and secondarily displaced people face include the lack of security, community acceptance, housing, property, and civil documentation issues as well as critical educational and health service gaps. Throughout this, Iraq continues to host over a quarter of a million Syrian refugees.

The UN estimates that more than 4.1 million Iraqis will need assistance in 2020, 1.77 million of them in acute need. With military operations against IS group having ended, the Iraqi government faces new challenges to ensure an inclusive reconstruction and reconciliation that will sustain peace.
Since 2010, NRC Iraq has been assisting internally displaced Iraqis, Syrian refugees, returnees, and host communities in Ninewa, Dohuk, Erbil, Kirkuk, Basra, Salahdeen, and Anbar Governorates.  

We focus on assisting the newly displaced, those experiencing protracted displacement in camps, and people returning to and living in hard-to-reach places by improving their chance of obtaining a durable solution.  NRC runs integrated programs across Iraq to respond to people in need using our shelter and settlements, education, camp management, legal assistance, livelihoods, and cash activities.

Duties and Responsibilities

Overview: the main role of Activity Leader: (Service contract) is to:

General Duties:

1. Adhere to NRC policies and Code of Conduct.
2. Travelling between schools in Mosul city is required.
3. Provide support to NRC Education team
4. Attend any assigned trainings provided by NRC or other partners
5. Build positive relationships with children, parents, teachers and the community
6. Make sure to save NRC assets and visibility
7. Working directly with the program to gather the necessary information from the BNFs

Specific Duties:

1. Responsible for teachers training, facilitate lessons (in person & remotely) & gap filling with high quality and according to the plans set in advance.
2. Creating an interactive environment to boost the conversational abilities, and encourage participants to express themselves, through discussions, dialogues and different activities.
3. Preparations for training curricula and remedial classes.
4. Adhere to the content of teacher training and formal education curriculum.
5. Prepare venue and other required material for the training and remedial classes.
6. Conduct classroom observation for teachers and ASER test for students as per project plans.
7. Collect statistical and other data and provide regular reports on activities.
8. Responsible for teaching Math, Arabic, English, Science, BLP and PSS sessions.
9. Collecting the BNFs’ data (BNFs’ attendance) on daily basis
10. Responsible for outreach campaign and door-to-door visit
11. Responsible for conducting and monitoring Parent Teacher Association PTA
12. Responsible for conducting and monitoring Teacher Learning Circle (TLC).
13. Provide the team with all essential information about the activities and inform them in case of any difficulties that may occur or breaches.
14. Responsible for any task requested by the line manager.
15. Work under supervision of the line manager.
16. Working hours: 48 hours per week (6 days per week) And at the location designated by the direct line manager as required by the project.

المهام العامة بالوظيفة:

1. الامتثال لاجراءات و سياسات المجلس النرويجي للاجئين
2. التنقل بين المدارس في مدينة الموصل مطلوب
3. تقديم الدعم لفريق التعليم التابع للمجلس النرويجي للاجئين
4. المشاركة في التدريبات المقدمة من قبل المجلس النرويجي للاجئين أو شراكائهم
5. بناء علاقات جيدة مع الاطفال و الاهالي و المعلمين و المجتمع
6. التاكد من الحفاظ على سلامة المعدات والاجهزة التابعة للمجلس النرويجي للاجئين
7. العمل بشكل مباشر مع برنامج التعليم لتجميع المعلومات اللازمة من المستفيدين

المهام الخاصة بالوظيفة:

1. مسؤول عن تدريب المعلمين و تقديم دروس التقوية (بشكل شخصي او عن بعد) و سد الشواغر بجودة عالية و وفق الخطط الموضوعة مسبقا.
2. المساهمة في بناء بيئة تفاعلية لاظهار القدرات التحاورية و تشجيع المشتركين للتعبير عن انفسهم من خلال النقاشات والحوارات والفعاليات المختلفة.
3. التحضير للمادة التدريبية و دروس التقوية و اثراء المادة العلمية.
4. الالتزام بمحتويات المادة التدريبية والمادة المنهجية لدروس التقوية.
5. تهيئة وتحضير المكان والمواد الاخرى اللازمة للتدريب و دروس التقوية.
6. اجراء المشاهدات الصفية للمعلمين وكذلك اختبارت تحديد المستوى للطلبة (ASER) حسب خطة المشروع.
7. جمع بينات احصائية وغيرها وتقديم تقارير عن الانشطة بشكل منتظم.
8. مسؤول عن تقديم حصص ( الرياضايت ، العربي، انكليزي، علوم ، برنامج نحو تعلم افضل BLP و الدعم النفسي للطفل PSS).
9. اتمام ادخال البيانات (حضور المستفيدين) بشكل يومي والتأكيد من بيانات المستفيدين.
10. مسؤول عن حملات التوعية و زيارة الاهالي.
11. مسؤول عن عقد و متابعة اجتماع مجلس اولياء الامور و المعلمين.
12. مسؤول عن عقد و متابعة حلقات تعليم المعلمين.
13. تزويد فريق العمل بمعلومات عن سير الخطة التدريبية بشكل دوري ولأبلاغ عند وجود اي صعوبات او خروقات.
14. مسؤول عن اي مهام اخرى تحدد بواسطة المدير المباشر.
15. العمل تحت اشراف المدير المباشر.
16. ساعات العمل:48 ساعة لكل اسبوع (6 ايام في الاسبوع) وفي المكان الذي يحدده المسؤول المباشر حسب متطلبات المشروع.

Required Qualifications:

• The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree - preferably graduate from College of Education.
• The ability to work in a team.
• The candidate must have experience in teaching & training.
• Strong presentation skills and good communication skills.
• Arabic language (reading and writing) is a must, English language (reading and writing) is a plus.
• An understanding of the circumstances, needs and challenges facing teachers in Nineveh.
• Good knowledge at (Excel & Word).

• Contract period: 3 months 
• Salary/benefits: According to NRC's salary scale and terms and conditions.
