BACKGROUND

Founded in 1991, Secours Islamique France (SIF) is a non-governmental organization for international solidarity with a social and humanitarian mission with a presence in Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Europe, Secours Islamique France assists the peoples through its emergency aid, development and orphan sponsorship programs in over 30 countries wherever humanitarian and social needs exist, without regard to race, religion or gender.

SIF aims to commence an integrated project in Iraq aimed at providing cash assistance to Orphans and their families to support their education. The project has already conducted the baseline assessment of the targeted beneficiaries and geographical areas. In addition to monthly cash transfers, the beneficiaries (including Orphan children and their families) will be provided Psychosocial counselling and support and life skills trainings to cope with real life situations. In order to improve their prospects of income generation, the beneficiary families will also receive livelihood (vocational) & entrepreneurship trainings under the proposed project.

Climate-Resilient Agriculture, Livelihoods, and Protection for Vulnerable Communities in southern Iraq, by engaging Youth and into agricultural activities in Samawah

Objectives

To enhance community-led engagement to address underlying protection issues stemming from climate-change, and build community resilience and capacity to withstand and adapt to shocks - To improve agricultural productivity, adapt, and build resilience to climate change through climate-smart agriculture. - To promote alternate livelihood opportunities to mitigate the impact of sudden shocks and improve coping mechanisms.
