
Background
CESVI is an Italian NGO working for global solidarity. CESVI operates worldwide to support the most vulnerable populations in promoting human rights and achieving their ambitions, for sustainable development.
CESVI has been working in Iraq since 2018, focusing on the sectors of livelihoods, multi-purpose cash transfer, agriculture and food security. More recently, CESVI has started a new program in the protection sector, in particular GBV.
Brief project profile
The project Strengthening community response and protection services for survivor’s women and girls in Halabja and Halabja Governorates promotes access to quality integrated protection services, at the same time strengthening the community network of civil society organizations engaged in gender-based violence response, with the ultimate goal of strengthening the resilience of vulnerable women and girls.
The target areas of the above-mentioned project are Dohuk and Halabja Governorates, in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI).
Objectives and Scope of Work
In line with the project “Strengthening community response and protection services for survivor’s women and girls in Dohuk and Halabja Governorates”. Also, as part of Cesvi GBV project intervention for expansion the protection services provided by Women Shelter and the Department of Combating Violence against Women (DCVAW) in KRI, the project will support DCVAW with various dissemination materials. In particular, a short film will be produced to highlight Gender Based Violence issue and raise community awareness. The short film will be screened in schools and shared on the main dissemination platform.
Cesvi is seeking a video maker to produce 5-minute short animated video to support DCVAW in raising community awareness on GBV related topics. The film should be produced in Kurdish (Badini and Sorani) language with English and Arabic subtitles, in order to include the broader audience. The video maker shall use highest market quality standards, high-definition, fast paced and colorful, with clean stylistic touches. In addition, the video will highlight the importance of community respond to GBV.
The video producer will:
- Ensure necessary coordination with DCVAW in Erbil and incorporate their advices, comments and feedback on the video both before and during preparation;
- Conduct field visits of the project area (Duhok and Halabja Governorate) and interview with community leaders, if necessary.
- In coordination with DCVAW, develop the video script and story board to be used in shooting and production of the video.
- Incorporate the comment and produce a final 5-minute animated video on DVD, flash memory.
Work relationships:
- For this assignment, DCWAV, Cesvi Project manager and the Consultant will agree on the video script, first cut of the video, timelines, editing and the final video production.
- The consultant will work independently from the Organization and will be home based.
- The interaction between Project manager and the consultant will be by email/skype or phone calls as appropriate.
- The Organization will not provide logistics nor equipment to perform the assignment;
Deliverables and Timelines:
- The contractor shall commence the work as soon as possible, immediately upon signing contract.

Administrative issues
- The consultant should perform the work using his/her own resources (e.g., computer, internet connection) and Cesvi will not provide working space and logistics.
Payment
- Payments of total budget will be processed upon delivery of the following product along with invoice:
- Detailed timeline, work plan and draft outline (30%)
- First cut of movie (30%)
- Final cut of movie and all raw materials (40%)
Technical background and experience
- Minimum of three (3) years of documented work experience in the area of film/reportage/documentary writing, producing, directing, and editing;
- Access to the highest quality filming, light, sound, and editing equipment.
- Ability to operate under strict time limits and apply high production and technical standards for the purpose of maintaining a high level of professionalism;
- Ability to communicate and conduct interviews in English and Kurdish
