Description

The Iraqi Institution for Development (IID) is organizing a capacity-building workshop aimed at enhancing the quality of psychosocial support (PSS) services provided by its front-line staff. This workshop is specifically designed for PSS Facilitators, Case Managers, Outreach Staff, and Psychotherapists to build their capacity in delivering comprehensive and effective PSS services. The target audience for the workshop will work closely with returnee beneficiaries, including vulnerable women and children.

  1. Objectives of the Workshop
  • To strengthen the capacity of IID staff, including PSS Facilitators, Case Managers, Outreach Staff, and Psychotherapists, in providing targeted psychosocial support to returnees.
  • To equip participants with practical skills and guidelines for delivering both group and individual PSS sessions.
  • To enhance participants’ understanding of working effectively with vulnerable populations, particularly women and children returnees.
  • To ensure quality improvement in the psychosocial support services provided by IID staff through knowledge sharing and professional development.

Responsibilities of the Workshop Facilitator

The selected workshop facilitator will be responsible for:

  • Curriculum Design: Creating a comprehensive workshop curriculum that includes key PSS concepts, approaches, and practical applications tailored for staff working with women and children beneficiaries.
  • Workshop Delivery: Facilitating interactive and engaging sessions over three days, focusing on theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and case-based learning.
  • Material Development: Preparing and providing high-quality workshop materials, including handouts, guidelines, and resources specific to PSS work with women and children.
  • Assessment Tools: Developing pre- and post-workshop assessment tools to evaluate participants' learning and measure the impact of the workshop.
  • Reporting: Submitting a final workshop report, including participants’ feedback, assessment analysis, and recommendations for future training.
  1. Workshop Content Overview

The 3-day workshop will cover the following key topics:

Day 1: Introduction to PSS and Group Interventions

  • Morning Session: Introduction to psychosocial support (PSS), workshop objectives, and participant expectations. Overview of basic principles and approaches in PSS, with a focus on vulnerable women and children.
  • Afternoon Session: Focus on designing and facilitating effective group PSS sessions, with practical exercises and best practices for group interventions.

Day 2: Individual PSS Support Techniques

  • Morning Session: Understanding the principles of individual psychosocial support. Strategies for identifying and addressing individual needs in PSS interventions, particularly for women and children.
  • Afternoon Session: Handling challenging cases in individual PSS support. Practical techniques for case management and dealing with sensitive issues in working with returnee women and children.

Day 3: Practical Exercises and Monitoring of PSS Programs

  • Morning Session: Interactive role plays and practical exercises to reinforce the concepts covered in the workshop. Emphasis on the integration of group and individual PSS interventions.
  • Afternoon Session: Developing monitoring and evaluation tools for PSS programs. Concluding with a post-workshop assessment, feedback collection, and closing remarks.
Qualifications & Preferred Skills

 

  1. Qualifications and Experience
  • Advanced degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in delivering PSS training and facilitating workshops, preferably within the NGO sector.
  • Proven expertise in conducting both group and individual PSS training, with experience in working with vulnerable women and children.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage participants effectively.
  • Fluency in Arabic and English (written and spoken) is required.

7.Evaluation Criteria

Applicants will be evaluated based on:

  • Relevant experience in PSS training and workshop facilitation (40%).
  • Quality and comprehensiveness of the proposed workshop curriculum (30%).
  • Financial proposal and cost-efficiency (20%).
  • Experience working with NGOs and front-line staff in conflict-affected contexts (10%).

8.Submission to the Program Manager

The selected workshop facilitator must submit the following to the IID Program Manager at the conclusion of the workshop:

  • Workshop Report: A comprehensive report including a summary of workshop activities, participants’ engagement, key outcomes, and recommendations for follow-up training.
  • Assessment Analysis: A detailed analysis of pre-and post-workshop assessments, including knowledge gain and skill development of participants.
  • Workshop Materials: Copies of all training materials used during the workshop, including handouts, presentations, and any additional resources.
  • Participant Feedback: Collected feedback forms and an analysis of participants’ feedback to inform future capacity-building efforts.
