Project Summary:
The project focuses on improving peaceful coexistence, social cohesion, and livelihood opportunities in conflict-affected communities in Ninewa Governorate, particularly in Hamdaniya, Talafar, and Sinjar districts. It includes activities such as peace-oriented dialogue sessions, training for local political institutions, vocational and agricultural training, and coordination meetings between local and national peacebuilding institutions. The project targets returnees, host communities, and local authorities, with an emphasis on inclusivity and sustainability.
Job Summary:
The Project Officer will play a key role in supporting the Project Coordinator in implementing the project’s activities. This includes managing field-level operations, liaising with stakeholders, ensuring timely and effective delivery of activities, and maintaining alignment with project objectives. The Project Officer will also support monitoring, reporting, and ensuring that all activities are inclusive and culturally sensitive.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the overall supervision of the Director of Programs and direct supervision of the Project Coordinator, the Project Officer shall perform the following duties:
1. Supervise the implementation of all project activities including peacebuilding workshops, trainings, and FFS activities.
2. Organize community meetings and facilitate beneficiary selection processes with transparency and inclusivity.
3. Act as the primary focal point between WEO and stakeholders, including local authorities, civil society organizations, community leaders, and target groups.
4. Build and maintain positive working relationships and networks with local communities, district administrations, and government entities.
5. Ensure accurate and timely collection of quantitative and qualitative data, adhering to the project’s monitoring and evaluation framework.
6. Document feedback, challenges, and lessons learned from the field to inform project adaptation and improvement.
7. Provide regular updates and reports to supervisors, including weekly activity plans and field progress reports.
8. Support logistical arrangements for workshops, training sessions, and coordination meetings, ensuring smooth execution.
9. Translate and interpret as required during meetings and field activities (Arabic to English and vice versa).
10. Uphold WEO’s Code of Conduct, staff regulations, and security protocols at all times.
11. Ensure culturally appropriate implementation of all activities, particularly those involving women and marginalized groups.
12. Represent WEO professionally during fieldwork, stakeholder meetings, and community engagements.
13. Maintain proper management of project equipment and materials entrusted during implementation.
14. Perform other related tasks as assigned by the supervisor to ensure the smooth delivery of the project.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
· University degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Development Studies, or related fields.
· At least two years of experience in project management or field implementation; experience in peacebuilding, livelihoods, or protection projects is highly desirable.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Arabic and English; Kurdish is an asset.
· Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel); familiarity with data collection and reporting tools is an advantage.
· Strong communication and teamwork abilities, with a focus on fostering collaborative environments.
· Proven skills in drafting detailed and accurate reports.
· Willingness to work extended hours, including weekends, if required, and travel to other project sites.
· High level of discretion, ethics, and confidentiality.
· Willing to conduct regular field visits and travel to remote areas as needed.
