Job Summary

The MotherCare project specifically addresses the needs of pregnant women and new mothers, as they are at the frontline of vulnerabilities posed by elevated temperatures in Basra and Ninewa. Pregnant women are susceptible to several types of complications at all stages of the pregnancy—which include both physiological changes and risk of birth defects such as cardiovascular, respiratory or kidney diseases. Displacement also exacerbates these vulnerabilities, increasing the risks faced by already marginalized communities. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, this project adopts a health-focused approach, prioritizing the delivery of essential healthcare, support, and community resilience-building initiatives.

The Project coordinator will lead the project, aimed at enhancing maternal health and responding to climate-induced health challenges. This role demands strategic oversight and

operational execution to improve healthcare delivery and community resilience against climate impacts.
