Description

Generic Duties:

  • Knowing, promoting, implementing, and following up the universal hygiene standards/ precautions, bio-hazard prevention and infection control, security rules, and other protocols and procedures in the medical premises and ensuring high standards of hygiene of his/her working environment in the targeted HF and in the mobile clinic. Always Respecting medical secrets and confidentiality.
  • In collaboration with the Doctor carrying out Antenatal care, Family planning, and treatments. Participating in health education of the patient (and family) when necessary.
  • Carrying and supervising administrative procedures and documents (fill in patient’s files, forms, consumptions, statistics, registers, health files, etc.), and reporting any problematic situations and cases that may arise. Participating in data collection and keeping doctors/supervisors informed;
  • Be available to oversee screening, and do RDT for all patient
  • Provide nursing care to the patients (injection, dressing, health education, etc.)
  • Ability to head the outreach and hygiene promotion team and guide community health volunteers from time to time
  • Responsible for providing inputs and data for monthly health activities (ANC/FP)’ reports in a timely manner.
  • Ensure the quality of the health service given in all different locations meets the expected standards.
  • Performing other related duties within the clinic as may be assigned.

 

Specific Duties:

  • Measures and fills in the health card with vital signs: body temperature, pulse rate, respiratory rate, oxygenation, and, if adult, blood pressure. If the patient has already the health card, new vital signs, weight are taken and registered with the current date
  • Orients then patients to consultations, according to their medical priority (red, yellow, or green) based on triage protocols. If there are any signs or symptoms of an emergency, the patient is sent to the medical emergency area.
  • Responsible for conducting all Rapid diagnostic tests, dressing, injections, etc.
  • Give the treatment as per the doctor prescription
  • Perform any reasonable task assigned by the supervisor

 

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Person Specification:

  • Essential computer literacy (word, excel, and internet)
  • Leadership, people management, and development, teamwork and cooperation
  • Service Orientation.
  • Understanding of humanitarian operations principles, standards, and best practices
  • Manages effectively his/her own time as well as flexible and available to work overtime when needed
  • Good command of written and spoken English,
  • Strong interpersonal and team-building skills and excellence as a team player

Honesty and integrity and able to cope with stressful situations

 

Education and professional experience:

  • University Degree or Diploma in Nursing from an accredited institution
  • A diploma in Nutrition will be an additional advantage
  • At least 2 years post qualifying experience in a similar environment as the project sites above
  • Possession of a valid practicing certificate
  • Background/familiarity with Emergency.
  • Good knowledge and background of Sexual reproductive Health (ANC and Family planning)
  • Manages effectively his/her own time as well as flexible and available to work overtime when needed
