
Context:
Under general guidance of the Chief of Mission (COM)/DCoM, and the overall supervision of Senior Resources Management Officer (SRMO), and Technical supervision of IT officer and Administrative supervision of Head of Ninawa Sub-Office, the IT Assistant will perform the following duties
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
- Setup & Maintain the IT equipments for the users and offices within the HUB's AoR (Area of Responsibility).
- Install & Maintain internet connections for the IOM Iraq offices in the HUB.
- Helpdesk for the staff & Satellite offices within HUB's AoR.
- Plan the installation, operation and administration of the security of the various system and network components, including access to internet, protection against viruses, etc.
- Provide the user support for the MS windows and MS office, as well as for other programs used in the HUB.
- Analyze computer systems ; recommend new systems and/or enhancement in the functionality of the existing systems .
- Maintain ana accurate and up-to-date inventory of the IT equipment & software licenses for IOM Iraq offices in the HUB.
- Assist in the maintenance of systems, sub system and modules for the mission databases in accordance with the needs and requirements of each programme and project.
- Provide user support, training to use, operation, maintenance of the databases and assist in the implementation of all auxiliary sub-systems and modules.
- Other related duties as required.
Education
- University degree in Computer Technology or related filed from accredited academic institution with 2 years of relevant professional experience
- Completed High School degree from accredited academic institution with 4 years relevant professional experience.
Experience
- Strong working knowledge of Internet protocols, and experience in managing Internet Mail gateways.
- Very good knowledge, on a system administrators/engineering level (MS Exchange), configured to run over IP, telephone lines.
- Excellent knowledge of MS office.
- Ability to prepare clear and concise reports.
- The incumbent should have excellent knowledge of Windows NT server, NT networking, domain level configuration and administration.
- Ability to design, install and configure networks of different topologies.
- Working knowledge of VB, VB.NET, VBA, ASP, ASP.NET an advantage.
- Anticipates and prepares response to changing IT needs of the relevant organizational unit
- Delivers optimal IT solutions within defined resource parameters
- Correctly applies knowledge of specialized IT disciplines
Languages
- Fluency in English and Arabic are required;
- Any other language is and advantage.
