Description

Overall purpose of the role: To provide emergency medical aid to International Mine Action Standards and DRC SOP’s (specifically SOP 4 Medical).

Responsibilities:-

  • To perform emergency medical care and critical medical intervention to support a successful patient outcome.
  • To perform accident, response, evacuation, and occupational health planning.
  • To provide constant monitoring of the health and welfare of all people present on a work site, including in transit to and from a work site. This is to include the relative DRC COVID prevention measures.
  • To complete all medical reporting where necessary and to keep all patient details confidential in accordance with DRC SOP Medical SOP.
  • To have knowledge/ training and understanding of the types of injuries that may occur, i.e., blast or fragmentation injuries, snake bites, heat stroke, etc.
  • Confirm on a daily basis that there are adequate medical materials (to IMAS and DRC SOP standards) in the ambulance. Report deficiencies weekly. Take responsibility for all medical supplies, including medications and the ambulance cleanliness and operational capabilities.
  • To read/ understand the Medical Emergency Response Plan and practice the routes to the Primary and Secondary Casualty Evacuation Destination.
  • To practice a CASEVAC once every two weeks, or at the discretion of the TFM/ OM.) We offer Contract length: 6 months (with the possibility of extension) Salary Band: J Start date: July 1st, 2021. Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Experience and technical competencies: (include years of experience)

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a doctor/ nurse or paramedic. Education: (include certificates, licenses etc.)
  • Qualified medical professional with official medical qualifications from a recognised medical institution.
  • Previous Mine Action medically trained staff are strongly encouraged to apply. Languages: (indicate fluency level)
  • Arabic (English is an advantage)
