The Community Outreach worker is responsible for the implementation of community-based protection activities in the targeted location under the direction of the Field Officer & Community center supervisor and the roving protection officer.
Reporting structure
For day to day, operational management requirements the Community Outreach Worker reports directly to the AAF Field Officer or any other designated person appointed/instructed by the PM.
Responsibilities
- Actively reach out to community members of different ages (youth, adults and older persons), gender (men and women) and abilities (including people with disabilities) through high presence within the targeted community and regular communication with community members on their needs and AAF activities including Case management, legal, PSS, and Community Based Protection.
- Assist Case Manager and other AAF staff in follow-up training on mental health and psychosocial support topics. Actively participate in training and other AAF events.
- Help organize weekly meetings in order to report information, attend training, and receive instructions regarding activities in the local community.
- Invite community members to participate in the legal, Case management, PSS and CBP activities, including unstructured PSS, recreational activities, and awareness raising.
- Conduct awareness raising sessions and campaigns actively.
- Organizing the documentation of the activities including registration forms, attendance sheets and any other forms that need to be filled while respecting data protection guidelines.
- Assist in scheduling events with community leaders.
- Follow given work plans and guidelines
- Maintain positive work relationship within the protection team and outwardly in communications with the community.
- Ensuring compliance with the zero-tolerance to Sexual Exploitation and Abuse policy.
- Any other duties assigned by the project manager.
- At least 1 year of experience in relevant protection fields.
- Good command of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Previous experience working in protection components highly desirable.
- Bachelor's degree in any relevant field.
- Demonstrated adherence to humanitarian principles.
- Ability to communicate and manage a working team.
- Ability to allocate and review priorities to meet deadlines.
- Ability to identify problems and resolutions.
- Ability to work under pressure.
