Description

Networks of Change (NoC) programme builds trust and resilience of youth in the Kurdistan Region in Iraq. Though intensive training, awareness campaigns, leadership and entrepreneurship development, NoC paves the way for Kurdish youth to participate in social, economic and political life. NoC focuses on youth in the regions of Erbil, Halabja and Sulaymaniyah and the people surrounding them: teachers, social workers and parents. In these regions, secondary schools and universities work together to strengthen the present youth centers in order to empower and engage local young people and their communities.

Under direct supervision of the NoC Programme Manager for Iraq, the freelancer will support the team of the Networks of Change programme in the implementation and administration tasks.  We are looking for someone who is flexible, self-starter, and somebody who enjoys building up things.  S/he will also facilitate regular reporting activities with collecting and compiling reports for the Programme Manager’s review. 

The freelancer will report to the Programme Manager and coordinate closely with the NoC team.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

The responsibilities and tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist the SPARK team during events (seminars, trainings, info sessions, workshops etc);
  • Directly communicate with partners and beneficiaries, in coordination with the NoC staff;
  • Provide support on daily basis to the NoC staff to ensure a smooth implementation of the activities that is in line with the activity plans;
  • Support in ensuring that all project documentation (paper and electronic) is up to date and stored in an effective and confidential way;
  • Assist SPARK team with logistic tasks
  • Assist SPARK team with procurement and finance.
  • Able to work at SPARK office in Erbil at least 3-5 times per week.
  • Go on field visits in Erbil, Sulaimaniyah and Halabja (including overnight stay) when needed.
  • Any other related tasks.

 

Qualifications & Preferred Skills
Requirements and Skills 
  • University diploma in a relevant field;

  • A minimum 2 year of relevant working experience in a prior comparable position and with (international) NGOs;

  • Clear interest in development aid, youth and employment.

  • Excellent English and Kurdish language skills

  • Skills in MS Office, and other related software;

  • Good communication and social skills and ability to work in multicultural settings;

  • Good team worker while able to work independently;

  • Ability to work under pressure;

  • High energy, pro-active and service minded;

  • Hands-on attitude and willing to help out flexibly if required;
