ASSIGNMENT SUMMARY
Role and responsibilities
The propose of the Officer position is to support in the day-to-day implementation of the Livelihoods activities of the project. She/he will be in charge of implementing and planning for the trainings to the youth, seed funding grants, , community initiatives and showcases of the livelihoods, in addition will support all field level operations and supervise incentive workers, documentation, reporting etc.
Generic professional competencies:
- Experience working in a humanitarian/recovery context(Livelihoods)
- Previous experience working in complex and volatile contexts; ability to remain calm and professional intense situations
- Documented results related to previous responsibilities
- Solid computer skills, including MS Word, Outlook and Excel
- Proven ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
- Ability to work diligently both independently and in a team setting
Specific skills, knowledge, and experience:
- Knowledge of the youth and adolescent contexts and have knowledge about their needs
- Knowledge of the youth support Knowledge of the basics of Child Protection and/or psychosocial support
- Understanding of the circumstances, needs and challenges refugee/IDP children face
- Understanding of the role of livelihoods in meeting the needs of IDP/refugee populations
- Understanding of INEE minimum standards
- Experience in community mobilization and/or relationship building
Standard responsibilities
- Firm adherence to the ACTED Code of Conduct
- Obey to ACTED policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
- Ensure proper filing of documents
- Make decisions on the ground with limited or remote supervision
- Contribution with the implementation of the education project according to the plan of action
- Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
- Promote and share ideas for technical improvement
Specific responsibilities
- Conduct trainings on daily basis to youth on Life skills, employability, entrepreneurship and active citizenship
- Supervise initiatives and seed funding of youth inside the youth center of Dohuk
- To implement of livelihoods activities under the direction of the Education and Livelihoods PM
- Supervise education incentive staff and provide support to them in line with program objectives
- Provide support to ACTED activities and incentive staff in line with ACTED quality standards
- Ensure direct communication and feedback with beneficiaries and relevant host communities
- Ensure ongoing monitoring and reporting of projects at field level
- Organize and implement distributions of Training and Learning materials
- Contextualize and adapt content of the sessions of the training
- Any other task relevant to the position as requested by the line manager
- University degree it is preferable to be in Business management, Social Science, humanities, IT etc.
- Capability to establish good and respectful relationship with other actors;
- Able to train and manage a team (to listen, advise, support, solve conflicts, motivate, etc.);
- Experience with participatory fieldwork, methodologies, monitoring and reporting;
- Knowledge of humanitarian principles and code of conduct;
- Patience, good personal organization, good communication and ability to work in teams;
- Efficient and responsible, with good personal accountability;
- Very good interpersonal and diplomatic skills, especially with beneficiaries facing difficult situations;
- Initiative, flexibility, team spirit, willingness to learn, and a positive attitude;
- Ability to work under time pressure, independently and with limited supervision; Computer literate (IT) and good level of numeracy.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in the field of Livelihoods and in a related position
- Languages Required: Fluency in written and spoken Kurdish, Arabic and English.
NOTE: The Livelihoods Officer position is based in Dohuk, but daily presence in the sites /Youth center in Duhok assigned will be required. He/she should visit the assigned sites whenever needed and/or requested by his/her line manager and according to standing operating guidelines.
