Background:
Mission East, founded in Denmark in 1991, is an international humanitarian and development organization undertaking disaster relief and development programmes in Asia. In response to the recent IDP crisis, Mission East re-established its presence in Iraq in September 2014 in order to provide emergency assistance for displaced people. Our current programme in Iraq focuses on psychosocial support, shelter, WASH, and livelihood components in Ninawa and Kirkuk Governorates.

Key Tasks and Objectives
The Security Guards will work under the direct line management of the Security Focal Point. Protecting ME’s property and staff by maintaining a safe and secure environment. Observing for signs of crime or disorder and investigate disturbances. Acting lawfully in direct defence of life or property. Professional guard to protect ME premises, assets and personnel.
The guard will maintain a high visibility presence and prevent all illegal or inappropriate actions. The goal is to detect, deter, observe and report.
- Protect ME property and staff by maintaining a safe and secure environment.
- Observe for signs of crime or disorder and investigate disturbances.
- Act lawfully in direct defense of life or property.
- Apprehend criminals and violators.
- Take accurate notes of unusual occurrences.
- Report in detail any suspicious incidents.
- Patrol regularly the compound and perimeter.
- Monitor and control access at entrances and vehicle gates.
- Watch alarm systems or video cameras and operate detecting/emergency equipment.
- Perform first aid if qualified.
Required qualifications and skills:
- Proven work experience as a security guard or relevant position. Ability to operate emergency equipment. Excellent knowledge of public safety and security procedures/protocols. Surveillance skills and detail orientation.
- Minimum two years’ experience in guarding in humanitarian/development/private sector. High school degree and/or relevant trainings/courses and experience. Working knowledge of local languages is required and basic English language knowledge will be preferred.
