GBV TRAINING FOR GBV SPECIALIZED AND NON-SPECIALIZED 

 

Background Information to CARE and the project:

These termes of reference are for a trainer to deliver GBV case core concepts and safe referrals, PSHEA, main streaming GBV and protection, for IHF Project /local women-led Organizations and governmental counterparts in Diyala governorate

Duration: 9 days.

Location: Diyala Governorate

Reporting To: Capacity Building officer and GBV coordinator at CARE International in Iraq.

 

 

Scope of conducting GBV training:

CARE International Organization strives to increase the knowledge and expertise of the national, local women-led organizations and governmental entities on GBV core concepts, prevention, and response, as well as to integrate and mainstream GBV and protection into their interventions.

To this end, a GBV training will be organized in July & August 2022. The training will be as follows:

  • Two days of training on GBV core concepts and safe referrals.
  • Two days of training on GBV prevention and risk mitigations.
  • Two days of training on GBV minimum standard and GBV Iraq SOPs.
  • Two days of training on Protection from Sexual Harassment, Exploitation, and Abuse (PSHEA).
  • One-day training on Mainstreaming gender and protection.

The training package (ppt, practical, exercises, pre/post-test, evaluation) will be developed by the trainer and delivered in the Diyala governorate.

 

Overall goals:

  • Understand the core concepts related to GBV and how GBV impacts individuals and communities.
  • Learn to use a gender-sensitive approach to their work and be able to recognize their bias toward gender-based violence.
  • Use a survivor-cantered approach when offering referrals to GBV survivors
  • Enhance the understanding of the participants on issues of gender, rights, equality, and gender-based violence
  • Describe the Ecological Framework for understanding and addressing GBV
  • Identify the core approaches that influence our work to prevent and respond to GBV at every level and in all phases of emergency response
  • Explain the purpose of GBV coordination and the utility of the IASC GBV Guidelines to support inter-agency action
  • Have a better understanding of the concepts around gender and sex and what’s the difference between sex and gender
  • Explaining the survivor- cantered approach and GBV case management services in humanitarian settings.
  • Explaining the Case Management with women and adolescent girls, guides how to tailor GBV case management by collaborating with women and teenage girls and the specific types of GBV they face.
  • Learn how to offer referrals to GBV survivors and complete the referral forms.
  • Provide guidance and tools (forms and other materials for monitoring the quality of GBV case management services, including consent forms and referral forms).

 

 

Role and Responsibility of trainer:

  • Prepare training schedules and plan and share them with CARE gender and protection program for review.
  • Prepare training material and content (presentations, worksheets, etc.) according to the objectives of the training.
  • Providing the attendance with the GBV core concepts and safe referrals
  • Provide technical consultation and strategic guidance through remote support and direct field missions.
  • Providing a time to discuss challenges and achievements in addressing GBV emergencies.
  • Preparing evaluation forms and share with CARE for review.
  • Submit and prepare Pre-post-tests for attendance.
  • Draft a training report and submit the report after three days of conducting each training for comments and feedback.
  • Incorporation of comments and additional findings received into the draft report.
Qualifications & Preferred Skills
  • Proven experience as a technical trainer, three (3) years’ previous experience as a trainer, corporate training specialist on protection/GBV, or related position.
  • Knowledge of modern training techniques and tools in technical subjects, specifically on GBV core concepts, PSEA, and Mainstreaming GBV into protection interventions.
  • Experience in designing technical course content for in-person training.
  • Working knowledge in MS Office (especially PowerPoint).
  • Outstanding communication skills and comfortable speaking to crowds in Arabic and English if possible.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Proven work certificate of working in relevant technical GBV-related positions (Caseworker, Psychologists, GBV Specialist or Capacity building, .. etc.)
  • excellent presentation skills to present training contents and materials.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Gender norms and practices in Iraq reign in Diyala; so, can communicate and provide the correct information and handle any questions from trainees.
  • Trainers require good interpersonal and observational skills to assess trainees.
