Description

Context/Reporting line:
Under the general guidance of the Head, Transition and Recovery Division, the overall supervision of the
Senior Coordinator (Durable Solutions Working Group) and the direct supervision of the National Liaison
Officer (Durable Solutions), the incumbent will perform the following duties:
Core Functions / Responsibilities
The successful candidate will perform the role of Liaison Assistant by coordinating with the key partners and
authority stakeholders in the Kurdistan Region focusing on durable solutions. In particular, the incumbent will
serve as the focal point in liaising with JCC and DMCR. This position requires frequent travels within the KRI
and will, as requested, and sit at the JCC Erbil office.
1. Establish and maintain good professional relationships with key government, international and
national actors in the KRI to enhance partnership and help identify entry points for support and inform
regular issues on durable solutions.
2. Assist the National Liaison Officer (Durable Solutions) for KRI in coordinating with the relevant local
authorities in KRI, including JCC, DMCR.
3. Provide support to advocacy efforts, messaging and alert on issues related to durable solutions and
assistance from government to enhance durable solutions coordination and IOM operational activities.
4. Assist to collect, analyze, utilize data and provide feedback on durable solutions to support the
Durable Solutions Technical Working Group (DSTWG) and the Return Working Group (RWG).
5. Assist to coordinate between IOM field teams and durable solutions coordination teams to support
advocacy efforts.
6. Contribute to the preparation of briefings, background information, official correspondence to the
government. Stay abreast of social, political, economic and cultural development in KRG and report
on any matters which may affect the promotion of durable solutions and IOM’s programmes.
7. Submit regular reports on relevant information and data on displacement and durable solutions in KRI.
8. Perform administrative duties, including but not limited to producing meeting minutes, notes for file,
and other requested documents.
9. Perform any other duties which may be assigned.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Education:
 Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science, Social Work, or any related field from an accredited academic
university or institute.
Experience and Skills:
 At least 3 years of relevant work experience.
 Experience working on displacement-related issues and durable solutions at the field level.
 Strong computer background including experience with relational database and Microsoft applications
such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and MS Teams.
 Experience with coordination work with different sectors including humanitarian, development, and
peacebuilding.
 Support adequate levels of information sharing between internal units, partners, IOM, and other
emergency response actors.
Languages:
 Fluency in English, Kurdish and Arabic is required.
