Title of position - Norwegian Church Aid (Driver) 

Introduction to NCA:

Norwegian Church Aid is one of the largest aid organisations in the Nordic region. We are there in disasters and emergencies to provide water and critical assistance to those affected. As we see more and more people impacted by disasters, we now have an even stronger focus on providing more people with emergency relief and access to clean water. 1. AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Define the main areas and objectives that the job is to responsible for: 

• The Driver coordinate the implementation of driving of his own car for daily activities and movements of NCA work. All NCA staffs has a right to do the movement by NCA renting car for NCA work and during working hours with approval from his/her line manager.

• The movement can do in KRI and Ninawa areas.

2. MAIN TASKS

• Responsible of all movements for NCA daily work in Duhok, Erbil and Ninawa side or in between that, by using his own car. From Sunday to Thursday each day contains of 8 and half hours with 30 minutes of lunch break.

• Ability to work in weekend if it needs as dictated by Logistics or Country Director and will be compensated.

• The driver is responsible of car maintenance, washing to be clean inside and outside, Fuel and it should be full and ready every time for long movements.

• The driver is responsible for the car, its cargo and the passengers. No alcohol or drugs or illegal items are to be taken by the driver prior to or while on duty.

• The driver will always follow NCA security Standard Operating Procedures relating to the safety and security for themselves, their passengers, cargo and other road users, driver will follow communication schedules dictated by the NCA Security Coordinator

• It is the responsibility of the Driver to always ensure safety of the passengers.  Ensure that all passengers are using seatbelts.

• The driver should carry out daily vehicle checks to ensure that the vehicle is in safe working order. Should there be a fault with the vehicle or the need for repair the driver should inform his line manager immediately.

• The driver will ensure that all records + logbook are kept up to date according to fleet officer requirement.

3. OTHER DUTIES / FUNCTIONS ASSIGNED TO THE POSITION 

• It is mandatory that the Driver should respect national traffic rules and regulation (such as speed limits) in force in Kurdistan/Iraq and also adhere to parking rules.  At  no time will the vehicle be operated while using a telephone.

• The Driver should ensure that no person, other than NCA staff is transported in the vehicle without a prior authorization by the Country Director or Logistics Advisor. The driver must ensure the waiver form is signed before transporting non NCA staff.

• If involved in a small accident not involving other vehicles or people, the incident should be reported to the Logistic Manager upon arrival and If involved in a serious accident the driver should be reported to the logistics Manager as soon as possible. 

• Responsible of transfering logistics goods or NCA fiels materials if it needs and during transporting any equipment or supplies, ensure that the cargo is properly loaded so that the vehicle cargo will remain safe and secure in the event of an emergency stop. In no circumstance the driver should transport cargo without signing and receiving a way bill. The way bill must be completed by the person issuing the cargo.

• No smoking should take place inside the vehicle.

• The driver will not be used to collect or transport alcohol by himself or on behalf of staff.

• Any other duties as highlighted by the Team Leader.

• Equipment to be in the vehicle at all times are (Battery jump cables ,First Aid Kit ,Spare wheel in good condition ,Hazard warning triangle ,Tow rope and Vehicle jack).

• The following items are deemed to be prohibited and not to be transported (Weapons of any type including firearms, batons, knives, machetes, Drugs, Contraband, Flammable materials such as Kerosene, Corrosive or poisonous materials, A materials not related to NCA programs and Materials from third party – non NCA staff).
