Description

 

Background:

Sahara Economic Development Organization (SEDO) is Iraqi National NGO, it's established in November 2007 as an independent NGO with its main office in Tikrit city. It focuses on developing the economic sector by providing business management training courses and counseling services to entrepreneurs and potential investors to enable them to efficiently contribute to the local economy. SEDO is considered among the most effective and qualified organizations in Iraq. It has conducted economic studies on the business environment in Iraq, identifying business opportunities and market niches for potential investors in Iraq. SEDO started humanitarian intervention in Iraq to respond to the urgent need for our beneficiaries, it's work in WASH, Livelihood, protection, Food security, and Education sectors. 

 

ROLE PURPOSE:

The Child Protection Officer is a member of the emergency response team in Iraq. The Child Protection Officer is responsible for supervising and mentoring the implementation of the CP Program activities in the area of responsibilities in Diyala governorate. The officer will supervise a team of case workers and community mobilizers, ensure that project activities are consistent with SEDO’s programming principles and approaches, draw on relevant best practices and lessons learned, enable children to attain their rights and ensures timely reporting to the CP manager/coordinator and ensures timely, adequate and quality monitored implementation of CP activities.

 

 

Staff supervision and mentorship

· Supervise a team of case workers and community mobilizers through a motivating approach.

· Mentor facilitators /community based staff as well as community mobilizers ensuring that they are empowered to achieve their performance objectives and program results.

· Develop performance plans and reviews for staff working under his/her responsibilities and support them to set performance objectives.

· Work with child protection committees and support monthly meetings to map protection risks in the community and feedback for programmer improvement

 

Monitoring and Reporting

· Assist with monitoring all CP activities against indicators and quality benchmarks.

· Ensure that all program data is properly and regularly collected by field staff, check data and ensure that it is logically presented to the Response Team CP officer.

· Contribute to the preparation of internal and external reports;

· Participate in team reviews of results and program progress.

 

Collaboration and Representation

· Regularly coordinator and collaborate with different CP actors and SC staff to strengthen programming and impact for children.

 

 

 

 

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

 

QUALIFICATIONS

· Diploma degree and at least one years relevant area work experience.

· Strong English as well as strong / Arabic skills, written and spoken.

· Good computer skills (MS Office, including Outlook for email).

· Commitment to and understanding of SEDO’s aims, values and principles including rights-based approaches.)

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

· Proven ability to work as part of a team.

· Strong understanding of the situation of children in the community and demonstrated commitment to improving the lives of children in the community.

· Proven technical knowledge and skills in the field of Child Protection.

· Strong experience in case management, child protection interventions, provision of different trainings includeing resilience and positive discipline programs.

· Strong organizational skills.

· Proven skills including planning and budget tracking capacities.

· Ability to supervise and mentor staff to achieve results.

       Ability to travel independently, including to rural communities and work long hours.
