Background

CESVI is an Italian NGO working for global solidarity. CESVI operates worldwide to support the most vulnerable populations in promoting human rights and achieving their ambitions, for sustainable development.

CESVI has been working in Iraq since 2018, focusing on the sectors of livelihoods, multi-purpose cash transfer, agriculture, and food security. More recently, CESVI has started a new program in the protection sector, in particular GBV.

The Case Manager in Duhok works under the supervision of the SGBV Specialist. She/He is responsible for

 identifying vulnerable girls and women survivors of GBV and providing case management services. The Case Manager will coordinate with the GBV Coordinator and the mobile team in order to identify and refer cases. The Case Manager is responsible for preparing daily reports regarding the case management activities, updates, and database in a timely manner.  S/He is carrying out related tasks foreseen under Project Result 1 in Duhok Governorate.

 

Brief project profile

The project Strengthening community response and protection services for survivor women and girls in Duhok and Halabja Governorates promotes access to quality integrated protection services, at the same time strengthening the community network of civil society organizations engaged in gender-based violence response, with the ultimate goal of strengthening the resilience of vulnerable women and girls.

The target area of the above-mentioned project is the Duhok and Halabja Governorates, in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

 

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Objective 1: GBV Case management

S/He:

  1. Responsible for initiating and providing counseling interventions through case management to survivors of GBV/SGBV with acceptable and positive socio-cultural norms and traditions.
  2. Provide direct support and care for vulnerable women and girls and GBV survivor, including basic information counseling and case management – assessment of survivor needs, developing an action plan, implementing the plan, follow up, and case closure processes in line with the S/GBV Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
  3. Under GBV Coordinator supervision liaises with other service providers working within the area of Cesvi’s activities and communities where the project is implemented and facilitate referrals to other service providers (health, shelter, NFIs, legal assistance, financial support)
  4. Ensure the Do No Harm approach is applied in all activities conducted in work with GBV survivors and other Cesvi beneficiaries.
  5. Participate in case conference meetings and provide summary information on critical cases that required case conference.
  6. Provide weekly case updates to supervisor/line manager, including new cases identified, a number of referrals, cases closed, and follow-ups.
  7. Provide weekly reports on activities including key achievements, challenges, lessons learned, and follow-up support needed from a supervisor.
  8. Ensure the principles of safety and confidentiality of beneficiaries’ data and data protection mechanism is in accordance with S/GBV SOP.
  9. Performs any other duty assigned as needed.

Objective 2: Implementation of Safeguarding policies –Adult at-risk/Child Safeguarding/PSEA

S/He:

Ensures compliance with CESVI Safeguarding Policies and full implementation of safeguarding measures within his/her area of responsibility throughout the project's activities;

Qualifications & Preferred Skills
  • University bachelor’s degree or higher equivalent in Social Science, Social Work, and Psychology.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in S/GBV case management.
  • Has certificates of receiving training in case management, case management coaching and supervision, and PSS.
  • A clear understanding of gender, abuse of power, and issues surrounding violence against women and girls.
  • Fluent written and spoken Arabic, Kurdish and English Elementary proficiency is required.
  • Prior experience working in NGO, with girls and women in emergency preferred.
  • Belief in human rights including gender equality
  • Computer literate (Excel, Word, Email).
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, ethics, and respect for clients at all times.
  • You fully adhere to international standards and code of conduct (girl, women) and conflict of interest policies.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills and problem solver.
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Patient, culturally sensitive, flexible, and highly motivated to deliver quality assistance.
  • Ability to manage a varied workload and prioritize tasks, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent negotiation and relationship management skills, with the ability to proactively problem solve and find solutions
